Message from the President

BUMS is an incorporated body. That means we can run it like a business where BUMS is a separate entity from the people on the Management Committee. We are registered in Queensland and must comply with rules including having an Annual General Meeting each year. This may not sound very interesting, but we strive to make it fun and engaging.
The AGM this year is on Sunday 6 September from 2.00 to 4.00pm at Norman Park Sports and Community Club. For the last few years, we have called it a JAM SANDWICH because we have a couple of 30-minute jams with the formal meeting in between. This year community bands Sublime Ukelectics and NUMB BUMS will lead the jams.
At the AGM we will present the committee’s report for the year 30 June 2026. We have had many successes this year, and we want to share them with you.
The current committee members will retire, and a new committee will be elected. Many of the current committee have made themselves available again.
HELP NEEDED
We have a vacancy for someone with accounting experience to become Treasurer. Peter Orford has been Treasurer for two years and it’s time he had a break. Thanks, Peter.
We converted to Member Jungle (our administrative system) three years ago. We’d like to find people with IT experience to help us run the system and make more use of its facilities.
Being on the committee can be a very satisfying experience, giving us a great sense of pride and achievement. It’s a great opportunity to really contribute and be part of the decision-making for our amazing organisation.
BUMS succeeds because of its members who volunteer.
