West End jam in June
10th June 2026
By Angela Leader
What a fantastic night at West End with almost 30 ukulele players filling the room with music and great vibes!
Len and Karen Henderson began the night (with Ross sitting in on percussion). They had everyone strumming to many 12 bar blues chord progressions. We sang and played along to a mix of songs like Peaceful Easy Feeling, Daydream Believer, Walking After Midnight, Have You Ever Seen the Rain and Your Mama Don't Dance.

The Ukulele Saints with Peter, Mark, Frank, and Simon kept the energy flowing with more bluesy riffs. We strummed Big Jet Plane, All I Have to Do Is Dream, Ain't Misbehavin', 2:19 Blues, The Joker, Tuesday Morning, Gypsy Queen and the much loved finale: At the Indie Disco.

The last band was Fooled 'Em Again with Steve, Meghan, Frank, Simon and Ross. They brought a laid-back groove with I'll Go Wherever I Want To followed by a beautifully slow version of Valerie. The audience grooved along to our favourite Fooled ‘Em Again numbers: Cry To Me, These Boots Are Made for Walking and Green Limousine. Make me Smile was a nice addition to the set. The night wrapped up with a fast and lively rendition of Used to Love Her that had everyone tapping their feet.
