Northside jam in March
26th March 2026
By Peter Grace
“What a great set of songs, the perfect jam” – so said audience member Peter Kelly at the close of the Northside jam in March.
The first set was led by five players from community band NUMB BUMS – Chris, John, Peter, Joan and Andre. Their set included old favourites like Leaving on a Jet Plane, Handle with Care and Bad Moon Rising.

John Low and Chris Slater gave us a lovely open mic rendition of Bob Dylan's ‘To feel your love’
Grandees – Kevin, Graham and Rose – gave us a good potpourri of songs including Mack the Knife, Cool Change and Eve of Destruction. Steve Sandilands joined the band on harmonica for Piano Man to loud applause.

Fooled Em Again – Frank, Megan, Steve, Ross and Simon – performed an open mic of The Neville Brothers ‘Yellow Moon’ beautifully led by Megan. Their jam set included Love Me Like a Rock, The Next Time in Town and These Boots are Made for Walking. A good earworm for the way home.

Signs of things to come
Sadly, only 32 people were at the jam despite the attraction of the new kitchen. The food is great and well-priced, but beware, the serves are huge. They open at 5.30pm so time for a meal before the jam.
The low attendance may be because of people’s reluctance to travel with the price or scarcity of fuel. Starting to feel like COVID again.
