October at WEBUMS

It was a fun night at the Archive in West End on the second Tuesday in the month. There were lots of well-known singalong songs and a few surprises.  Some straightforward songs and some challenges with new riffs and chords to get our teeth into.

Andrew Hunt with Kevin Buckley on bass kicked the night off on time at 7.00pm. We all sung our heads off on Believe or Not I'm Walking on Air, Paul Simon's Mrs Robinson, Dirty Ol' Town and a more upbeat version of Gordon Lightfoot's If You Could Read my Mind.

Our new jam coordinator, Len Henderson and super bass player, Karen Henderson led the second set with some favourites like Bad Moon Rising and Dock of the Bay.  We all loved the updated version of You're Sixteen - reworked as You're Six--tee (so we didn't sound like a bunch of perverts). Stevie Wonder's I Just Called to Say I Love you ended with a clever outro playing Ab, Bb and C running up the fret board.

The Grandies - Rose, Graham, Russ and Kevin - finished off the night with more fun songs. Highlights were Sandie Shaw's Always Something Left to Remind Me, Can't Take my Eyes off You, and a rocking ending with Roy Orbison's Penny Arcade.

Thanks to everyone who helped make the jam a success - on the door, scrolling, moving chairs, setting up and breaking down the PA system and having fun.  Come and try this centrally located jam next month on the 11 November.
