Publishing song sheets and copyright

For some time, the BUMS management committee has been working on a project to publish our song sheets on the website. The project stalled for a while whilst we sorted out the copyright issues with OneMusic with whom we have a licence to use other people’s songs.

We have clarified what we can and cannot do as a community group.
- Our licence allows us to run jams, workshops, concerts and open mics just as we do now.
- We can publish song sheets on our website that can be accessed by financial members for personal and educational purposes.
- We can run concerts and performances for the public (such as parties, charities, age care homes etc) as we do now. However, they must be free of charge, or any fee is to recover our costs or is for the purpose of fundraising for BUMS.
More details of these arrangements and some of the implications they have for BUMS can be found here. We will be publishing more information for community bands, BUMS-affiliated bands and other performers as we develop new policies.
