Northside jam and a new screen
2nd October 2024
By Peter Grace
Attendance was down a bit (school holidays?) but we enjoyed three sets from Spare Parts, The Original Crew, and Andrew Hunt and Len Farina.
We started with applause for Andrew. The Geebung Bowls Club wanted a permanent screen for others who use the function room, not just for BUMS. They bought the screen and Andrew fitted it. Woo hoo, mate , good job.
Spare Parts kicked off the night. They introduced the chord shape Csus4 in Love the One You’re With. It’s a key sound in the song and it sounded like most people got it. They finished with a good ol’ rock and roll song Long Tall Sally.
The Original Crew included Anne Maddison playing with them at Geebung for the first time. They played songs we knew and could heartily join in with. Their set included Have You Ever Seen the Rain which included Csus4 – second chance to play that chord. Love their shirts by the way.
Andrew and Len finished the night. A surprise song was Amazing Grace. We played it three times to different chord patterns which made it very interesting. Did you know you can play it to the music of Gilligan’s Island or House of the Rising Sun?
And we all went home with a smile on our faces!
