We Bums October

The intimate and dimly lit space at the top of the Archive Boutique Brewery welcomed 35 players and singers to another night of fun.

Cath McCourt and Simon Carter led two sets and jam debutants Les Briant and Paul Colch led the middle set.  It was good to see some new faces performing at two open mics.

Les and Paul challenged us by starting with Dumb Things and we all enjoyed Octopus’s Garden, Flowers on the Wall, My Next Broken Heart, Sixteen Tons, Hound Dog, and Inner-City Blues.  Cold Chisel’s Rising Sun finished the set.

Cath started with a Barry Manilow song Can’t Smile Without You followed by a folk song she’d picked up on her travels, A Drop of Nelson’s Blood. Further songs included Everybody’s Talking at Me, Travelling Soldier, Landslide, Istanbul (Not Constantinople), Use Somebody, Windmills of your Mind, My Mistake, Price Tag, Crazy (by Gnarls), Do you really want to hurt me, and Shine (Vanessa Amorosi).

Thanks to all the crew who set up the jam, Wendy and Barbro on the front desk, Merv Harcourt and Andrew Hunt who ran the sound and screens.

Footnote:  This is a test to see what interest exists.  If you were at the jam, would you being interested in having a copy of any of these songs for your personal education purposes.  If yes, email Peter on secretary@brisbaneukulele.com
