Coorparoo Jam October
9th October 2023
By Peter Grace
Forty plus jammers enjoyed three sets of jam songs and two open mic spots.
Steve Sandilands and Simon Carter stepped up at the last moment to lead the first set. They played Blue Moon, Better Be Home Soon, All of Me, Suspicious Minds and Have I Told You Lately. They were joined by Vic Kena for a couple of open mic songs.
First timers at the Coorparoo jam were Rainey and the Norty Boyz (Loraine Wallace and company). They played Hound Dog, Just Because, Rhythm of the Rain, Oh Lonesome Me, Music Music Music, Raining in My Heart, Urban Spaceman and San Francisco Bay Blues.
Jim Bills played two magical instrumentals before Spare Parts finished off the night. Their songs told a story of love, betrayal, insanity and hope. The songs were The Letter, Amarillo, Marie’s the Name, Mountain of Love, Crazy, When Will I be Loved and Fleetwood Mac’s Don’t Stop.
Thanks to all the crew who set up the jam particularly Andrew Hunt who ran the sound and screens with Merv Harcourt.
Footnote: This is a test to see what interest exists. If you were at the jam last night, would you being interested in having a copy of any of these songs form your personal education purposes. If yes, email Peter on secretary@brisbaneukulele.com
